Several authors affirm, that all the books published hitherto under Zoroaster’s name, some of which are yet extant, are supposititious. Hyde affirms, that the ancient Persians acknowledge no more than one uncreated principle, which was the good antiqya, or, in one word, God: But it is beyond dispute, that one Hystaspes, older than the foundation of Rome, and a great prophet, is mentioned by authors.
